“Are you propositioning me, Dash?” I turn the tables back on him, but he’s much cooler than I am.

“Maybe I am, would that be so bad?” He stands and offers me his hand.

I take it. “Let’s go.”

We walk toward the entrance together and gather our snowboards. He carries both of them to the SUV and loads them up while I jump in the front seat and wait with very little patience. My leg is bouncing as Dash rounds the car and pulls open his door. Nervous, excited energy is ready to burst out of me.

“Where to?” He looks at me.

My jaw falls open and my brows pull down. What? Did I just imagine that entire hot and heavy makeout session? I assumed he was taking me to his place. He literally said he was propositioning me. What the hell?

“You hungry?” He pulls onto the road and I still have yet to respond. He’s thinking about food right now? I’m the damn snack here. I’m what he should be devouring not dinner.

“Um…”

“What? Oh, you’re right. We should probably shower and change if we’re going out on a date.”

I shake my head, unable to keep up with him. “Am I missing something here? I thought…you said you were propositioning me. You asked if I wanted to get out of there?” My words are heavy with the euphemism.

“I know. And we did get out of there and now I’m taking you to dinner.” He shrugs. “And for the record, I didn’t say I was propositioning you. I asked if it would be bad if I were.”

“You’re infuriating.” He makes me want to knee him in the balls a second time.

“You’re not the first person who’s told me that.”

We drive in silence, save for the nearly unintelligible music playing on the radio. I don’t even realize we’re back at the cabin until he’s parked and opening my door for me.

I rush to unbuckle my seatbelt and hop out of the car. I nearly slip on ice and Dash has to grip my forearm so I don’t go sprawling.

“You really are a klutz, aren’t you?”

“It’s all part of my charm.” I deadpan. At least he chuckles, though I’m not sure if it’s with me or at me.

He walks me to the front door that I unlock with the key. I don’t know if he expects me to invite him in to wait—or to join me in the shower—but luckily he answers my unspoken question for me.

“I’ll pick you back up here in an hour,” he tells me.

“Okay.” I’m a mouse, quiet and squeaky. I think because I know what happens after the date and what he’s going to expect. I want to do it, but I’m also now thinking about it and having a full-blown panic attack.

He leans down to whisper in my ear. “Don’t look so nervous.” Before leaving, he offers me a kiss which leaves me breathless and begging for more.

I spend almost the entirety of the following hour scrubbing, exfoliating, and shaving every inch of my body.
